AVIRAL....

Hello All,

This post is for my biggest Quilling painting till now which took 282 hrs to finish and the credit to write this post goes to none other than the famous quiller "Pritesh Ananth Krishnan". Thankyou mam for inspiring me soo much from your posts..

Basic facts about painting:

Size: 4 feet by 3 feet.
Time taken to finish: 282 hours.
Total no. of strips used: 9000
A4 sheets: 16
Artists: Krati & Princy

So, here we go..

BEGINNING:-

I started my quilling work around 8-9 months back and till now have made few small paintings and quilling jewellery. You will not find other posts on my blog as i m new to it.When i started my quilling work i got appreciation from everyone around me. And so i was very much motivated & happy for the same. One day my cousin asked me to make a painting, a quilling painting for jiju's office.. She just said she want waterfall in it.. I said ok, and came back home. Days passed on searching the image for the same, But couldn't find any. Then i called my bhabhi cum friend  Mrs. Anshika Rastogi to help me out. She cursed me first for not even starting it yet. She suggested me few things and then we decided the size i.e 4 by 3 feet and ordered the plywood base..

HURDLES:-

Once the plywood base arrived , i was worried about how to paint the sky. I had never ever painted anything, i even don't know how to paint. I again called my bhabhi and as always she was there to help me out. I first applied few coats of primer on it. and then she painted the sky with Fevicryl Acrylic colours. I m an inexperienced person in terms of handling paintings and dat too of such a huge size.

MAKING:-

The size of painting did scared me a lot. Though i got a starting point after the sky paint but still there was a long way to go. I started planning what quilling technique to use and i decided with combing coils. I then figured out the colours of strips to be used. And so the work of converting strips into combing coils started. While making it a thought was hitting me again and again of whom to call for my help. Then there comes my little cousin Princy who is my neighbour also. Although she don't know anything about quilling but still i can't think of anyone else. I first taught her how to do quilling and she very quickly got all things. Without her support, dedication & hardwork i couldn't think of completing this. She took the painful task of making thousands and thousands of quilling coils.

I started putting tight coils first to give height to each stone but at one point i was stuck and then decided to use thermacoal as the base.

Here are some extra shots & the final picture:-

This is how it looked in starting and i was very tensed about its looks. :(
Other things used apart from combing coils are Fringing flowers and leaves. Also punching machines..

While we were working i got fever and the work stopped for 1 week.. :(
Now, i was worried about how to show waterfall. I went through many posts on net regarding the same but couldn't find any idea. I then tried many things for it but finally decided pasting white strips next to each other.

It was a very painful task as i have to show waterfall with just white strips of paper..

This is how it looked once i m done with pasting white strips more than 3000..

We then painted it to give effects of waterfall..

Me working on small small things..

Finally it got over..
Some finished photos now.. :)
